What are PDF Files ??
Adobe® Portable Document Format (PDF) is the open de facto standard for electronic document distribution worldwide. Adobe PDF is a universal file format that preserves all the fonts, formatting, graphics, and color of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. Adobe PDF files are compact and can be shared, viewed, navigated, and printed exactly as intended by anyone with free Adobe Acrobat® Reader® software.

Students are permitted to save school related files on our secure network or on a personal USB flash drive.

NOTE: It is often difficult, time consuming, and sometimes impossible for our staff to work with or convert documents created by students at home in programs/formats that are incompatible with Microsoft Office 2003. If a student begins working on a document at home using a program other then MS Office 2003 and plans to continue working on the document in school, they should either save in a format compatible with MS Office 2003 OR utilize one of the free OFFICE ALTERNATIVE OFFICE programs listed below.

Students should ALWAYS save a copy of their document on their home hard drive in addition to the diskette or flash drive that they are bringing into school. This will help to minimize distress when a diskette or flash drive is lost or fails to operate properly. This is a common occurrence - especially with diskettes!

aupDistrict Acceptable Use Policy

Students are assigned a network User Name (Student ID #) and a password to access the network and use the computers in the school. 

The computer network contains programs and resources to enhance the learning experience.  In order to insure that students are able to utilize these tools to their optimum use, listed below are the guidelines for computer use at Community Middle School.

  1. Students should memorize their User ID & Network Password and be ready to use it when school begins.

  2. Passwords should be kept private.  This information should not be shared with other students.

  3. Saving of school related files is permitted on our secure network (H: Drive), floppy diskettes, or a personal USB flash drive. Please conserve both paper and storage disk space - home directory (H: Drive) size will be limited.

  4. Game playing, downloading of files from the Internet, modification of hardware or software (including additional installations) are all prohibited.

  5. Internet use is limited to educational research.

Picasa Photo Organizer

A free software download from Google.
Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organized by date with folder names you will recognize. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organized.
